DKCI Events - Spring Newsletter - March 2006

The 2005 festive season - politically correct or otherwise (there is still freedom of events!) signalled a resurgence of well-placed, well-produced, well-done Events that reflected the healthy markets and a continuation of the strong Canadian economy ....corporate and association events, incentive programs (they are on a surprising increase in the USA, despite rumours and compliance issues!) along with spring annual meetings and a resurgence of creative team-building events, these are being planned with full-steam-ahead agendas...ah, steam...the Spa component is still very much a part of the criteria of must-have venue services to successfully host these events...and the appeal is now there for both the sexes.

When planning conferences or other events, think big ....

The fastest growing and hottest tourist area in this country today is not so surprisingly...Niagara Falls. A recent building boom and sharpening up of service and attitude have Niagara Falls poised to be the hottest destination for meetings and events in Canada. World-class hotels, better quality food & beverage and the fabulous Las Vegas-styled Niagara Fallsview Casino complex will offer a complete experience to the seasoned conference delegate.

"Tourism is the fastest growing industry in the world. Over the past decade, tourism spending in Canada grew faster than the Canadian economy as a whole. Tourism spending tops $55 billion each year and employs 1.4 million Canadians -- that's 10 per cent of the Canadian workforce. Jobs opportunities in Niagara's tourism industry have increased 75 per cent over the past three years."-- Information from www.tourismniagara.com

Kelly Walker...not hard to describe his many attributes, very difficult to impart how this modern renaissance man will lift your spirits through words of startling insight and pure beauty.... he will leave your delegates with inspiring thoughts and personally-enriching ideas that they will share and cherish forever.

“Kelly is one of Canada’s experts on the
questions of transition, change and burnout.”

His books are wonderful, his concerts are uplifting, but Kelly Walker IS a speaker. He walks the talk and it shows in his presentations. Kelly is one of Canada’s experts on the questions of transition, change and burnout. He brings the most controlled audiences to their feet when he addresses crowds from 50 to 5000. He is wise, current and fun.

A man who began his speaking career as a preacher in the Dominican Order (the Order of Preachers), he has continued to inspire, inform and confront audiences throughout North America by his fresh and authentic style of presentation. He will lead your audience from laughter to tears as he explores with them the human dimensions of transition and change. He is able to speak to the true issues that humans face since he has experienced them personally. Also, as a former priest and therapist, he has guided thousands of people through their journeys.

We cannot miss an opportunity to highlight ....the Quebec City dining establishment & favourite restaurant of DKCI, Le Saint-Amour...preparing exceptional dishes from local bounty, coupled with an extensive wine cellar....Le St-Amour ... The name is entirely appropriate: this is one of the city’s most romantic restaurants. The white tablecloth-laid tables of the elegant interior give way to a lovely winter garden – a glass-covered courtyard framed by stone walls and mirrors inlaid in the art-nouveau-style. The foie gras is a house specialty and provides a good introduction to a menu of finely prepared rack of lamb, pheasant, caribou and the like, accompanied by an extensive wine list, given Wine Spectator’s Best of ....Award of Excellence. Make the time to experience the outstanding food and beverage offered at this exceptional establishment.....at 48 rue Ste-Ursule, (418) 694 0667.
